Melissa Tagg. One Enchanted Noel: A Novella. Middletown, DE: Larkspur Press, 2017.
Fans of Ms. Tagg have found a fictional home in the small town of Maple Valley, Iowa. As the primary setting for many of Ms. Tagg’s novels, Maple Valley is also the home of her series of Christmas novellas that follow the Renwycke siblings. One Enchanted Noel marks the final story in the series, which have previously only been available as e-books.
In One Enchanted Noel, Leigh Renwycke finds herself becoming discontent with the much-awaited normalcy of her life in Maple Valley. As the assistant manager of the town’s most notable restaurant, she has finally started to rebuild her and her daughter’s lives, even as she dreams of one day becoming an event planner. When Seb Pierce arrives in town, he thinks he only has to renovate Maple Valley’s long-vacant theater. Instead, he finds himself in need of some help to fulfill the town’s phenomenally high expectations for a grand re-opening. With Leigh’s help, Seb comes to discover the hometown that he’s always sought throughout his life.
Ms. Tagg contributes her flair for romantic comedy in her final novella of the Enchanted Christmas Collection. Leigh’s story offers a fitting conclusion for the remaining Renwycke sibling.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading One Enchanted Noel! Ms. Tagg’s work is always a delight to read and this story is no exception. I never thought that a grant agreement could be a plot point, but somehow she pulls it off. Likewise, Seb’s backstory and strained relationship with his wealthy grandfather seems familiar. However, Ms. Tagg’s take on her characters and their situations seem entirely new and compelling. Together with One Enchanted Christmas and One Enchanted Eve, One Enchanted Noel offers a memorable cast of characters and more opportunities for readers to enjoy the town of Maple Valley. With the end of this series, I’m eager to see what Ms. Tagg thinks of next!
Ms. Tagg is releasing One Enchanted Noel, as well as her other two novellas in the series as a stand-alone Kindle and paperback book in Enchanted: A Christmas Collection. Fans of her work will definitely want to track down this book, especially if they have not previously had access to her e-books in this series.
Fans of Ms. Tagg’s other works will be absolutely delighted with One Enchanted Noel! Readers who enjoy humorous, light-hearted Christian romance will definitely want to read this story, too.
